Introduction

This study aimed to examine the effects of sleep deprivation on attention and working memory in healthy adults.

Methods

The experiment was conducted with 18 participants who were randomly assigned into two groups: a control group and an experimental group. The participants in the experimental group were kept awake for 72 hours, while those in the control group maintained their regular sleeping patterns throughout the duration of the study.

Results

Analysis revealed that there was a significant difference between the two groups, with those in the experimental group having lower scores on measures of attention and working memory than those in the control group. Furthermore, as the degree of sleep deprivation increased, performance decreased even further.
